Beekeeping Tours

Touch a Bee in the Apiary

Duration: 1.5 hours

Suitable for ages 10 & up

$30 per person

Come introduce all your senses to the wonderful world of honey bees! Suit up with the beekeepers of White Oak Point Honey and walk through the apiary, where you can not only see and hold a frame of bees, but begin to understand why honey bees are not as scary as you might think. You’ll hear the amazing hum of an active, busy hive as you learn the different roles of bees within the colony and see life in all stages there. You may be able to spot the queen! Learn how nectar and honey are stored in the hive, and smell the intoxicating aroma of this home-grown goodness. Find a new appreciation for the vital role honey bees play in our environment, and how hard they work that role. Back at the Smokehouse Market, you will learn more about what you can do in your own yard to help. Take home a packet of pollinator-friendly flower seeds, and enjoy a tasting of honey before you leave.

Learn about Bees from a Distance

Duration: 1 hour

Suitable for all ages

$20 per person

For those who wish to enjoy from a distance, we have an opportunity in the Smokehouse Market to learn from the beekeepers. A one-hour chat will include everything we would cover in the apiary, but without the hands-on experience. Take home pollinator-friendly flower seeds, and enjoy a taste of home-grown honey!
